The Optimus Industrial is a Type 2 Integrating Sound Level Meter, making it ideal for most occupational and general purpose noise assessments. It can also be used for more detailed noise surveys that require frequency analysis using Octave Band Filters.
This is a data logging meter, so it can store measurements for download to a computer. Software is included in the hire kit to download the measurements, prepare occupational noise reports and export to other formats as required.
It is essential that a sound level meter meets the correct standards for any measurements that could be used for the protection of hearing or any other legal reasons.
The Optimus Industrial meets the correct standards for occupational noise measurements (see Applications section). If you are unsure of the standards required for other regulations then please call or email for advice.
This sound level meter is the correct specification for all occupational noise assessments being carried out to the OSHA, ACGIH, MSHA and most other regulations. These regulations allow the use of an integrating sound level meter that meets ANSI S1.43 standard to Type 2. The meter is capable of measuring Lavg and Lpeak.
The Octave Band Filters are not essential but can be used to carry out more detailed checks to ensure that the hearing protectors available are adequate. For this reason we always include the octave band filters feature with this meter.
The Optimus Industrial is suitable for any general purpose noise measurement that demands the use of a Type 2 Sound Level Meter or Type 2 Integrating Sound Level Meter.
If your measurement guidelines don't mention standards then this meter should also be adequate, but please check with us first if you have any doubts.
The occupational noise regulations state that the meter's calibration should be checked before and after making measurements.
Put the Calibrator on the mic. and select the Calibrate option.
Keep a record of all calibrations (done automatically if you are downloading to a computer) to meet the noise regulations.
Press the [Start] key to start a measurement. Once the measurement is complete (e.g. the average sound level has settled) press the [Stop] key.
All parameters are stored in the meter for viewing or download - no need to choose which measurements you need, they are all there.
Back in the office, the measurements can be viewed on the meter's display or they can be downloaded to a computer.
The hire kit includes the NoiseTools software for downloading and reporting. The reports can be exported to various formats, including PDF, for filing or sharing with others.
These specifications are for the CR162C Optimus Industrial Sound Level Meter, which is included in the CK162C rental kit.
